Highland Park 15 Years Viking Heart 70 CL 44%

Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This is a wonderfully rich and complex single malt whiskey from Highland Park. It opens with rich and spicy aromas of crème brûlée, heather honey and crumbled cinnamon, followed by intense, fruity notes of fresh pineapple and sun-kissed lemon peel. There is also a hint of freshly baked sponge cake, hot from the oven, and toasted cinnamon. Citrus and vanilla notes linger in the aromatic waves of peat smoke.
To create 15 Year Old Viking Heart, Gordon Motion, Highland Park’s Master Whiskey Maker, selected predominantly European sherry casks to deliver warm, spicy notes and American sherry casks to provide a balance of sweet vanilla. He chose to add only a few spent casks to soften and smooth the flavors as well as bottling at 44% to allow the whisky’s lively fruitiness and characteristic heathery peat smoke to shine through.
If you rewind a century or two, Highland Park’s whiskey was stored in clay vessels. This porcelain bottle is inspired by examples found at the Highland Park distillery in Orkney. The modern version is made in collaboration with Wade Ceramics. The company was established in 1810 and is located in Stoke-on-Trent in England, which is known as the home of ceramics. Wade Ceramics focuses on sustainable manufacturing and the use of local raw materials.

The lead-free porcelain bottle is 100% food safe. It is glazed inside and out and embossed with the lion and snake design seen on many of Highland Park’s glass bottles. On the back of the bottle you will find the heart motif that was the inspiration for the name of this whisky.

HIGHLAND PARK

Highland Park is one of two distilleries on the northern Scottish archipelago, Orkney, and thus one of the world’s most remote distilleries. It was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, who was reportedly a priest by day and an illegal brandy distiller by night. The year is therefore not the time when the whiskey was first produced, but the year when the authorities found out about Magnus’ undertaking.
Magnus Eunson was a direct descendant of the Vikings who settled on the archipelago. With its characteristic taste profile of “intensely balanced smoky sweetness”, Highland Park’s whiskeys pay tribute to the proud Viking roots and the founder.
Today, Highland Park is no longer a small and secret company, but one of the world’s most well-known and respected distilleries!
