HIGHLAND PARK
Highland Park is one of two distilleries on the northern Scottish archipelago, Orkney, and thus one of the world’s most remote distilleries. It was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, who was reportedly a priest by day and an illegal brandy distiller by night. The year is therefore not the time when the whiskey was first produced, but the year when the authorities found out about Magnus’ undertaking.
Magnus Eunson was a direct descendant of the Vikings who settled on the archipelago. With its characteristic taste profile of “intensely balanced smoky sweetness”, Highland Park’s whiskeys pay tribute to the proud Viking roots and the founder.
Today, Highland Park is no longer a small and secret company, but one of the world’s most well-known and respected distilleries!
