Sito Moresco is one of the most approachable and modern wines from the iconic Gaja family in Piemonte. The wine is named after the Moresco family, former owners of the land where the vineyards are now located, and represents a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.
The grape composition varies slightly from vintage to vintage but is always based on Nebbiolo – Piemonte’s pride – complemented by international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and sometimes Barbera. The result is a wine that combines Nebbiolo’s elegant structure with round fruit character and silky tannins from the other grapes. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for about a year, adding depth and balance.
In the glass, Sito Moresco offers a fresh and fruity bouquet of cherries, blackberries, and red currants, delicately accompanied by floral and spicy notes. The palate is soft and harmonious with silky texture, lively acidity, and a long, balanced finish. This is a wine that drinks beautifully in its youth but also rewards a few years of cellaring. Perfect with refined meat dishes, lamb, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses.
The Producer – GAJA
Founded in Barbaresco in 1859, Gaja is today regarded as one of Italy’s most influential and prestigious wine producers. Under the leadership of Angelo Gaja since the 1960s, the estate has revolutionized the perception of Piedmontese wine through the introduction of modern winemaking techniques and an uncompromising focus on quality. Gaja has been a driving force behind the international success of Barbaresco and Barolo, and today produces wines that combine the depth of tradition with modern elegance. Sito Moresco reflects this philosophy – a wine that expresses both the character of its terroir and the house’s relentless pursuit of perfection.
