Fuligni S.J. IGT Rosso 2019 75 cl.

Rosso Di Toscana – Montalcino

It takes great winemakers to create great wines from the best areas. But it also takes a master to create great wine from less famous areas. Roberto Fuligni manages it with this impressive intro wine from Sangiovese and Merlot grapes.

Fuligni San Jacopo is one of the clear proofs of the high level of this winery. Because even though this is the intro wine to Roberto Fuligni’s universe, it is a wine at a really high level. And although it takes a great winemaker to make great wines from the best fields, areas and grapes, it also takes a master producer to create great wine from the less famous areas.

The wine is made from a blend of 60% Sangiovese grapes from younger vines on the estate’s various fields – as well as 40% Merlot from the La Bandita field. The grapes are harvested manually, and after vinification, the wine is stored for approx. 7 months in a combination of large French oak barrels and barriques. After the wine is bottled, it stays for three months in the winery’s cellar before being released.

In terms of taste, the wine impresses with its full-bodied and soft style with nice structure and notes of cherry, blackberry, tobacco and spices.
