About the Product
David Nicholson 1843 still maintains to this day the exceptional quality established in its time by David Nicholson’s original ”43” recipe.

Aged in new charred American oak barrels, this bourbon is made on Lux Row’s wheated bourbon mash bill, consisting of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley.

David Nicholson 1843 is bottled at 100 American proof – which corresponds to 50% alcohol.

Tasting notes
Lovely aroma of honey and butter, as well as mild hints of vanilla and oak can be found in the scent. When tasting, you are met by an exceptionally well-rounded taste that quickly slides into oak and smoke notes, before ending in a long, warm aftertaste with a touch of spice.

About David Nicholson
Almost 200 years ago, David Nicholson created the famous “43” bourbon recipe in the back room of his grocery store in St. Louis. Since then, the recipe has been passed down from father to son through the generations.

Finally, try one of these award-winning Kentucky bourbons – the rounded and pleasant wheated bourbon David Nicholson 1843, or the spicy rye bourbon David Nicholson Reserve.

Lux Row Distillers

David Nicholson is made by Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown – the Bourbon Capital of the World. The almost 1700m2 distillery is named after the very remarkable row of trees that can be found on the grounds. In addition, on the grounds of the distillery you will also find as many as 6 warehouses with space for around 20,000 barrels each. As well as a gigantic, 13 meter high, custom-made copper cauldron on which David Nicholson and the distillery’s other whiskey brands are distilled.

Luxco has actually been in the bourbon business for many years. But for the first several years of its existence, Luxco was not itself responsible for the production of their whiskey – which is quite normal within the American whiskey industry. It was only in 2015 that Luxco built their own distillery in the form of the Lux Row distillery – here they could use all the knowledge they have gathered for decades about the production and storage of bourbon and rye whiskey.

Lux Row differs from most other bourbon distilleries by using two different recipes (called ‘mash bills’) for their bourbon:

One is a rounded wheated bourbon mash bill consisting of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley, which is what David Nicholson 1843 is made on. The other is a spicy rye bourbon consisting of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley, which is what David Nicholson Reserve is made from.
