Chazalettes is one of the historic names in Turin’s vermouth heritage. The family moved from Savoy to Turin in the 1860s, and in 1876 Clemente Chazalettes founded his own vermouth and liqueur house. Before that, he worked as a technical production manager at Martini & Sola, which helps explain the house’s deep emphasis on craft and recipe tradition. After a long hiatus, the brand has been revived by a new generation aiming to preserve and reintroduce the original family recipes.
Chazalettes Vermouth Extra Dry is a Vermouth di Torino in a dry, food-friendly style, bottled at 18% ABV. The profile leans on freshness and herbal detail: bright citrus peel up front, balanced by Piedmont alpine herbs, with hints that can suggest juniper and gentle spice. On the palate it’s taut and refreshing rather than sweet, with a long, dry finish where leafy green herbs and a subtle apple-skin bitterness can appear.
Serving and use
As an aperitif: well chilled, ideally over ice with a lemon twist.
In cocktails: excellent in a Dry Martini and other dry classics where you want clear vermouth character without sweetness.
As a long drink: a “dry & tonic” with lemon peel for a crisp, lightly bitter serve.
