Benromach Vintage 2014 First Fill Sherry Single Cask Juuls 100th Anniversary 70 cl. 59,7%
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Benromach, founded in 1898, was acquired by Gordon & MacPhail in 1993, and after five years of restoration, distillation resumed. “Old school Speyside” is the best way to describe Benromach, where the ambition has been to recreate the classic Speyside whisky style of the 1960s. This includes, among other things, using a touch of peat during the malting process, which, true to the spirit of the sixties, adds a subtle hint of smoke to the whisky.
We were given the opportunity to bottle this exceptional sherry cask for our 100th anniversary in 2026. The whisky was distilled in 2014 and bottled at cask strength (59.7%) in 2026. The cask is a first-fill oloroso hogshead, which has left a bold impression on the whisky, yet Benromach’s characterful distillate is more than capable of carrying it. Here, everything comes together beautifully.
Colour: Dark amber. Nose: A meaty, slightly animalic aroma with notes of grilled drippings and barbecue, alongside leather-bound books, raisins, and sweet dark spices. Palate: Huge intensity on the palate, with an impressive spectrum of flavours ranging from dark chocolate, bitter orange, and sugar candy to peppercorns, Texas barbecue, and demerara sugar. In the finish, naturally, comes the small but delicious touch of peaty smoke that is Benromach’s signature.
