Amrut Master Distiller’s Reserve 70 CL 50%

Indian Single Malt Whisky

The Master Distiller’s Reserve is the first expression of an annual series of single casks selected by the master distillery in Amrut. This expression of pure elegance is made from whiskey aged in former bourbon casks and then in an old Pedro Ximenez sherry cask. This single cask also marks the first peated expression aged in a sherry cask for Amrut.

Color: Amber.
Nose: Dominant aromas of dried fruits, figs and plums that develop on caramel, chocolate and tobacco. In the background there are also sweet notes of melon and phenols.
Taste: The attack on the palate is true to the nose: on dried fruits, caramel and honey. The mid-palate is syrupy with flavors of lemon, tobacco and a hint of spice.
Finish: Sweet and dry accompanied by phenols.
Profile: Gourmet and peat.

Whiskey has made history in India for over 150 years. However, the story of Indian whiskey at Scotch level only began around the turn of the millennium. And with Amrut.

India’s flagship distillery was the first in the country to focus on the production of genuine single malt and established its quality Bangalore whiskey around the world. The ambitious distillers rely on the small-grained and therefore sweeter Indian barley from the foothills of the Himalayas. Amrut only uses malted barley from Scotland for its peated bottlings.

This elegant single cask from Amrut is made from malted, peated barley (peat from Scotland), double distilled in an iron still and aged in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in old, refilled Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. This single cask is Amrut’s first sherry cask-aged, peated expression. The edition is limited to only 510 bottles worldwide.
