The Macallan Art Is The Flower is an exclusive single malt from the legendary Speyside distillery, The Macallan. This release forms part of The Tree of Life collection, a tribute to artist and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The inspiration comes both from his iconic stained-glass artwork The Spirit of the Rose from 1902, and from one of his lectures in which he declared the phrase “Art is the Flower”. This whisky unites art, nature, and craftsmanship in a way that embodies The Macallan’s reputation as one of the world’s most celebrated single malts.
Bottled at 50.4% ABV, it is presented in a beautifully designed case that reflects Mackintosh’s distinctive style. The packaging is adorned with decorative rose motifs and artistic lines, reminiscent of his famous glass panels and architectural aesthetics. This design elevates the whisky into not only a spirit but also a collector’s piece.
In terms of character, Art Is The Flower exemplifies The Macallan’s classic style, matured in carefully selected European oak casks seasoned with sherry from Jerez, Spain. Though released without an age statement, the whisky displays clear maturity and the refined oak-driven complexity for which the distillery is renowned.
On the nose, it opens with rich aromas of raisins, figs, and dark cherries, layered with orange peel, almond, syrup, and treacle sweetness. Hints of polished oak and gentle spice add depth. The palate is rich and balanced, combining sweet oak with vanilla, ginger, and ripe apples. Subtle tea leaf notes and a fresh touch of citrus provide an intriguing contrast.
The finish is long, warm, and elegant, leaving lingering impressions of oak spice, vanilla, and soft fruit. It is a whisky that evolves beautifully in the glass, and with just a drop of water it reveals even more layers of fruit and spice.
Released in spring 2025, Art Is The Flower positions itself firmly in the premium segment. It is a bottling created for those who seek to experience The Macallan’s craftsmanship in its most artistic and expressive form – as much a work of art as it is a whisky.
