The Chita has a bright golden colour and a refined aromatic profile. On the nose, it offers notes of crème brûlée, cardamom, acacia honey and blossoming rose, creating an impression that is soft, sweet, floral and elegant. On the palate, it is mild, smooth and rounded, with flavours of deep honey, a hint of mint and delicate spice. The finish is clean, clear and balanced, with spiced oak and subtle bittersweet notes that add freshness and length.

Production and maturation

The Chita is produced at Chita Distillery, located on the Chita Peninsula in Aichi, central Japan. The distillery was founded in 1972 by Keizo Saji, Suntory’s second Master Blender, with the purpose of creating high-quality Japanese grain whisky.

The whisky is made primarily from corn and distilled using a continuous multiple-column distillation process. This helps create a clean, smooth and elegant spirit. To add depth and complexity, The Chita is matured in several cask types, including American white oak, Spanish oak and wine casks. This combination contributes to its gentle sweetness, smooth texture, refined spice and clean finish.
