There is something magical about old Islay whisky. What was once a fierce and untamed spirit is transformed by many years of cask ageing into something truly special, and when we were given the opportunity to select this mature Caol Ila for our 100th anniversary, it felt like an obvious choice. The tasting confirmed our suspicion: together with a gentle sweetness from the sherry cask, time, peat, and wood have created an enchanting elixir that could very well be the very essence of Islay.

This whisky was distilled in 2005 and matured in a refill sherry hogshead until 2 February 2026, when it was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, naturally at cask strength: 54%. There are 198 bottles in total.

Colour: Old gold.
Nose: A true Islay nose with salty wind, gentle smoke, an old apothecary, heather moorland, and preserved lemon.
Palate: It lands on the tongue with aplomb, bringing peat and aged citrus, dry cocoa, smouldering embers, and a gentle sweetness, before drying out into a long finish.
