AALBORG JULE AKVAVIT 2025 – No. 44
THE STORY
Aalborg Jule Akvavit rests on the craftsmanship principles of old times. That’s why it has its strong character, high caraway content, and robust taste. The recipe has remained unchanged since its launch in December 1982, though the bottle design has varied from Christmas to Christmas.
The alcohol strength is 47%, equivalent to 8 degrees “Spendrup” — the old Danish measurement for alcohol used in the late 1800s.
Traditionally, Aalborg Jule Akvavit has been accompanied by an elegant gift box. However, new sustainability requirements and a focus on reducing packaging mean that the box will no longer be produced. Christmas is the season of tradition — and now, a new one is born, with the beautifully designed bottle itself taking center stage on the festive table. This year’s Aalborg Jule Akvavit comes in the award-winning and exceptionally elegant bottle, created to celebrate Danish design and craftsmanship.
NO. 44 – THE ORIGINAL CHRISTMAS AQUAVIT
We celebrate the Danish soul, tradition, and spirit — all beautifully expressed in the double meaning of The Danish Spirit. This year’s design embraces Danish hygge — the warmth of the home, where we gather to enjoy each other’s company, good food, and a fine aquavit.
THE EXPERIENCE
Aalborg Jule Akvavit is made from distillates of caraway, dill, and coriander seeds. Its aroma and taste reveal a robust character of caraway balanced by a fine aftertaste of orange, almond, and citrus.
A taste and quality that have repeatedly impressed the judges at the International Wines and Spirits Contest (IWSC) — most recently earning a gold medal and an impressive 95 out of 100 points. Back in 2016, Aalborg Jule Akvavit was crowned World’s Best Spirit.
FOOD PAIRING
Aalborg Jule Akvavit pairs beautifully with almost all traditional Danish Christmas dishes — from marinated herring and salmon to roast pork, liver pâté, and meatballs with pickles. It also makes a wonderful addition to Christmas gløgg and can be enjoyed neat in front of the fireplace on a cold winter evening.
