With perfect exposure in the eastern part of the Pinhão Valley, Quinta dos Muros is the producer’s best address for grapes for port wine production. The deadly steep slate patamares have in 2017 yielded one of the largest vintages ever from here, and there is a full slap on all parameters without compromising on precision.
Quinta do Portal Quinta dos Muros Vintage Port 2017 manages to combine fullness, sweetness and a wall of dramatic, dark berries with freshness and balance. Well, the wine is painfully young now, but it appears as a viscous fist that provides a great drinking experience already. The acidity and massive but fine-grained tannins hold together the wine, so it is experienced fully harmoniously.
Enjoy for desserts with chocolate, for the Christmas food risalamande, for the strong blue cheeses or for pickled cherries with a dab of vanilla ice cream. If the wine is stored for a long time, remember to decant the wine carefully before pouring it.
