Springbank 5 Years 100 Proof is a young but seriously built Campbeltown single malt, bottled at classic 100 proof strength (57.1% ABV) for maximum flavour and drive. Springbank is one of Scotland’s most traditional distilleries and among the few that still do almost everything on site—from malting and peating to distillation, maturation, and bottling. The house style is known for its slightly oily texture, coastal character, and a distinctive balance of fruit, malt, gentle smoke, and spice.
This 5-year-old is designed to showcase the distillery character early and clearly, with a dry profile and ex-bourbon cask maturation that lets the spirit lead rather than leaning on heavier, sweeter cask influence. The result is lightly peated yet bright and fruit-driven.
In the glass it often opens with crisp green fruit (think apple) and a mineral freshness, followed by a well-balanced palate with a touch of peat smoke, sweeter notes that can hint at white chocolate/icing sugar, and more unmistakably Springbank traits like herbal edges and an oily, nutty structure. The finish is long and warming, with a gentle honeyed lift, tangy fruit, and spiced oak.
Serving and use
Best neat, then try a few drops of water—it opens the fruit and softens the punch.
A great choice if you want full-intensity young Springbank rather than a soft, sweet cask-led style.
