Chardonnay à la USA – Bundle 6×75 cl. (1x Indian Wells Michelle, 1x Scout, 1x, Freakshow, 1x Micheal David, 1x Pike Road, 1x Panamera)

From cool elegance in Oregon to generous, sun-ripened fruit in California and Washington State, Chardonnay à la USA is a case for anyone who wants to discover just how versatile American Chardonnay can be. Here, six different expressions of the grape come together: fresh and citrus-driven, rich and creamy, oak-influenced and silky smooth. It is a selection that works just as well for dinner as it does for social gatherings, showing why the USA is one of the world’s most exciting countries for Chardonnay.

What defines the American Chardonnay style?
American Chardonnay is often associated with ripe fruit, a rounder texture, and more noticeable oak character than tighter, stainless-steel-driven styles. Common features include notes of pineapple, mango, baked apple, vanilla, coconut, buttery nuances, or caramel, often influenced by oak ageing, malolactic fermentation, and sometimes lees ageing. At the same time, Oregon often shows a cooler side of the style, with more freshness, citrus, and a more restrained oak influence. That exact range is what this case is all about.

Pike Road Chardonnay
An elegant and well-balanced Chardonnay with a clear Oregon identity. Here you find fresh citrus, pineapple, quince, and a lightly spiced note of vanilla butter, without the wine ever feeling heavy. The palate is full yet structured enough to keep its energy and freshness, making it especially well suited to fish, shellfish, and dishes where both fruit and acidity are welcome in the glass. Pike Road is the sister project of Elk Cove, and the wine is made from 100 percent fruit from Willamette Valley, partly fermented and aged in French oak and partly in stainless steel to preserve both texture and freshness.

Scout by Leo – Sugar Mill Chardonnay
This is a more gastronomic and precise Chardonnay, where freshness takes centre stage while the texture remains generous. The nose leans toward pink grapefruit, orange peel, green mango, and green banana, with a discreet hint of vanilla. On the palate, there is a creamy citrus tone that recalls lemon crème brûlée, yet the whole impression is lifted by vibrant acidity and fine balance. It pairs beautifully with shellfish, grilled fish, chicken, and elegant dishes where you want a white wine with both freshness and depth. The wine is created by Danish-born Leo Steen in Sonoma, using Chardonnay from Wilson Vineyard in Clarksburg AVA, harvested early to preserve acidity, fermented in stainless steel, and given a short ageing period in used French oak and flextank.

Michael David Chardonnay
A generous Californian Chardonnay with rich fruit and clear roundness. Dried apricot, Granny Smith apple, and vanilla cream appear on the nose, while the palate moves toward honey, fig, and graham cracker with a silky body and fresh finish. This is a wine that works beautifully with grilled fish, chicken, turkey, or dishes with buttery and creamy elements. Michael David Winery in Lodi is run by the Phillips family, fifth-generation grape growers with the sixth generation now also part of the work. The wine combines stainless steel with barrel fermentation and sur lie ageing in new French oak, giving it fruit, creaminess, and structure.

Chateau Ste. Michelle – Chardonnay Indian Wells 2021
A full-bodied, silky, and highly crowd-pleasing Chardonnay in a clear New World style. The palate offers pineapple, mango, and butterscotch, with an almost rich and creamy mouthfeel that is still kept in balance by fine acidity. It pairs very well with shellfish salad, grilled white fish, creamy cheeses, and Caesar salad, but also with dishes where you want to match the wine’s fullness with something a little richer on the plate. Chateau Ste. Michelle describes the Indian Wells range as generous, rounded, and full-bodied, and the wine is aged sur lie in a combination of French and American oak. The producer is also Washington State’s founding winery and one of the region’s great classics.

Freakshow Chardonnay
A charming, fruity, and approachable Chardonnay with more show than restraint. The nose offers juicy apricot, honey, citrus, and caramel, while the palate brings nectarine, elderflower, crème brûlée, vanilla, and nutmeg. The result is a wine that feels both crisp and creamy at the same time. It pairs nicely with lean fish dishes, chicken, turkey, and salads, but also works well as a generous glass on its own. Freakshow comes from Michael David Winery in Lodi, where the grapes are sustainably farmed on the family’s own vineyards, and the wine is made with a combination of oak and steel to bring together fruitiness and spicy oak character.

Panamera California Chardonnay
A classic Californian Chardonnay in the softer, creamier style. The palate moves toward baked apples, pear, and pineapple, with clear notes of vanilla and coconut from ageing in new oak barrels. It is a full-bodied and welcoming wine with fine acidity, making it a great choice for grilled fish, chicken, pasta with creamy sauces, or other dishes where you want a wine with both roundness and fruit. Panamera is made by Rutherford Wine Company, a family-owned Californian winery with roots going back more than 50 years, combining estate-grown fruit with sourced fruit from several parts of California to achieve the style they are aiming for.
