Fresh and floral aroma with notes of white flowers, citrus peel and a touch of green apples. Light and juicy with flavors of apples, ripe pears, blackcurrants and a bit of spice. The balanced acidity adds freshness, while a hint of minerality lingers in the finish.
A crisp, aromatic wine perfect for sipping on a sunny day or with light dishes. It could, for example, be an English garden salad with potatoes, beans, spring onions, tomatoes, cheese and mint. The wine is also terrific with pan-fried sea bass on risotto or a warm chicken and mango salad.
About Skovgaarde
Danske Skovgaarde can date its long history all the way back to 1466. Today, Skovgaarde Hovedgaard extends over 90 hectares, with a focus on e.g. cultivation of currants, cherries and blackcurrants – and on wine, of course. Skovgaarde was taken over by the Hempel-Hansen family in 1998 – the same family that also, among other things, owner H.J. Hansen Wine.
The first harvest at Skovgaarde was vintage 2009, where red wine and white wine of honorable quality were made. The 2010 vintage was markedly better, and a sparkling wine was also made here, with which other Danish producers have shown good results. The vineyard is looked after on a daily basis by enthusiastic employees from the wine company, who are passionate about achieving top quality. Thus, nothing is compromised in the vineyard, and the vinification itself is assisted by Sven Moesgaard from Skærsøgaard, as he has Denmark’s most modern equipment.
