Rémy Martin XO is the house’s iconic XO Cognac in the classic Fine Champagne style, made from eaux-de-vie sourced from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. It’s a Cognac that balances richness with refinement: deep, mature fruit, warming spice and nutty complexity—delivered with a polished, silky texture and a notably long finish.
The overall profile is best described as opulent and fruit-forward, where ripe fruit leads and extended maturation contributes layers of spice, roasted notes and gourmand depth. It’s primarily a sipping Cognac, yet it also has the structure to stand up in a luxurious, spirit-forward cocktail if you choose to use it that way.
Colour
A deep, fiery mahogany with subtle opal highlights.
Nose
The aroma opens with an expressive “burst” of flowers and fruit, often suggesting ripe stone fruit and a candied citrus lift. As it sits in the glass, deeper layers emerge—warm spices, gentle nuttiness and a touch of roast that adds a distinctly gourmet feel.
Palate
The palate develops in a generous progression: ripe plum and candied orange up front, moving into spice and hazelnuts. It finishes with indulgent notes reminiscent of roasted cocoa beans and honeyed gingerbread, while remaining smooth and controlled rather than heavy.
Finish
Exceptionally long and lingering. Fruit fades slowly into spice, nuts and roasted cocoa, leaving a warm, luxurious aftertaste.
Serving
Best enjoyed neat in a small tulip-shaped glass, giving it a few minutes to open up. It also works on ice for a fresher, more aperitif-like expression.
