Pierre Ferrands 1840 Original Formula is an attempt to revive a cognacy style, which was popular in the 18- and 1900s, and, as above all, is distinguished in classic cocktails, where the higher alcohol percentage provides the intensity. The cognac is created in collaboration with the famous cocktail historian, David Wondrich and the specific blend is modeled after a rare and exceptionally well-preserved bottle of Pinet-Castillon-cognac from 1840.

Maison Ferrand was created with one mission: to preserve France’s gastronomic treasures. Alexandre has made a virtue of breathing life in old and long-lasting traditions, and the everlasting Learned Frenchman is, among other things, known to get up and buy old archives from bankrupt houses, to learn more about past production methods. But at Ferrand also understand the value of renewal, and today innovation appreciates as high as tradition. This is clearly seen in the Citadelle Gin brand. To be allowed to distill gin in Cognac, for five years bureaucratic struggle against the area’s stubborn spirits giants.
Since then, the enterprise has spread beyond France’s borders, and today Ferrand is perhaps mostly known for its series of Rome. Under the name Plantation acquires Alexandre Rome from many different countries in the Caribbean and renounces them in France at Cognac dishes. In the series there are Rome for both the beginner and the Key, for both Daiquiria and Glencairn Glasset. In 2017, the company bought Barbados distillery West Indies Rum Distillery, and now also has its own rom production from scratch.
