Pernod Absinthe – the deep green absinthe from France

Pernod Absinthe is a deep green absinthe from France that comes with a hefty alcohol content of 68% volume. Despite the high alcohol content, the taste is harmonious and has a nice bitterness. A wonderful absinthe that is sure to bring a smile to lovers.

An original recipe from 1792, adapted to the modern palate

The original recipe for the “absinthe elixir” is attributed to Dr. Pierre Ordinaire, who developed it in 1792. But for the new version of Pernod absinthe, they have refined the recipe and the production method to meet the tastes of modern palates. As a result, Pernod Absinthe certainly impresses with its bitterness, which – according to the original recipe – is due to the use of exquisite vermouth plants.

In the 1920s there were rumors of absinthe

In the 1920s, absinthe was banned in virtually every country. This was because, as in vermouth, the toxic neurotoxin thujone forms were found in excessive amounts. Fearing that the green drink would be banned again, even today the amount of thujone contained in absinthe is still limited. So you don’t have to be afraid. Pernod Absinthe is called normal absinthe and must therefore only contain up to 10 milligrams of thujone per kilo/litre. That’s well below the 10 milligram limit.
