The great Indian Single Malt from the sunny shores of Goa. With many freshwater springs and tropical warmth, Goa was the natural choice for where this Single Malt should be created. A year-round tropical climate naturally accelerates maturation. The angels’ share (evaporation) is around 8% per year. The Single Malt’s unique flavour profile is due in no small part to the intense character of the special barley that grows at the foothills of the Himalayas.
In 2004, Michael D’Souza became Master Distiller at John Distilleries, with the first distillation taking place in 2008. In 2012, Paul John launched its Single Malts in the UK and has since won countless awards and recognitions worldwide. Mac Y is proud to introduce Paul John Single Malts to Denmark.
The whiskies are non-chill filtered and contain absolutely no additives (no colouring or flavouring).
BRILLIANCE
Nose
Demerara sugar gives a hint of sweet aromas. Touches of cinnamon, honey, and gentle spice.
Palate
Sweet and spicy with a honey-like smoothness set against the crunch of a cereal bar; somewhere in there, a streak of cocoa.
Finish
Smooth and relaxed, with mild spices and a deep, intense sense of vanilla.
EDITED
Nose
Honey and cocoa intertwined with traces of smoke and a shot of espresso. A deeper sniff reveals a fruity note.
Palate
Barley-driven grassy notes arrive first, leaving room for subtle peat and smoke that slowly dissolve to make way for mint and mocha.
Finish
Long and drawn out. A sense of spice and mint chocolate. It finally closes on gentle notes of peat.
BOLD
Nose
After an initial whiff of smoke, Manuka honey, prickly spice, and a bourbon-like red liquorice take the stage.
Palate
Melts in the mouth—deep flavours roll in like waves. It begins sublimely silky, flavoured with oak-like honey. Just when you think you’ve made it, a new surge of spice arrives, followed by a smoky mood that fills the palate and leaves a tide of dry molasses, peat, and a hint of copper.
Finish
Light, with a touch of copper that slowly emerges. You may also find wonderfully smoky mocha shaped by delicate spices.
