This exceptional Mortlach single malt whisky was distilled in 2014 and matured for 10 years, with a final aging in first-fill Pedro Ximenez Hogshead casks. These casks have given the whisky a rich and complex character, where deep sherry notes are balanced with soft tones of vanilla and oak.
In a limited release, Signatory has independently bottled this whisky as part of their Small Batch Edition #15, showcasing Mortlach’s powerful and robust profile at 48.2% ABV.
Mortlach was established in 1823 following the Excise Act. Built on the site of an older illegal distillery, Mortlach became the first legal distillery in Dufftown, the epicenter of Speyside. Now owned by Diageo, it plays a key role in some of the world’s finest blends. This is due to its oily, meaty character and large-scale production. Known as “The Beast of Dufftown,” this character is the result of its unique distillation process, producing a spirit distilled 2.81 times. Mortlach once again makes its mark as a single malt, with last year’s Diageo Special Release bottling selling out in record time.
This single malt whisky was distilled in 2014 at the Mortlach distillery before being placed in Bolgheri red wine casks. In 2024, it was bottled at 48.2% ABV as part of the Signatory Vintage Small Batch Series.
