The beer tradition of Barley Wine dates back to the Napoleonic Wars when the English needed an alternative to wine, as drinking French wines was considered unpatriotic. The high alcohol content and bitterness, combined with flavors of caramel, dried fruits, and oak, make this Barley Wine a very well-balanced taste experience. Midtfyns Barley Wine is perfect as a dessert beer and pairs well with mild and creamy cheeses, but is also suitable for rich dishes like ossobuco, veal cheeks, and pork shank, perhaps marinated in our Barley Wine.
