Marsk Klitrose Gin is a Danish London Dry Gin from Marskdestilleriet on Rømø, created to reflect the Wadden Sea and the local landscape in a distinctly coastal style. The gin is made with dune roses from Rømø together with juniper, fennel, liquorice root, and coriander, and the producer highlights that it is meant to carry both floral notes and the distinctive taste of sea and marshland. It is bottled at 43% ABV in 700 ml.
As for the producer, Marskdestilleriet is deeply rooted on Rømø, where it creates gin and other spirits inspired by the local vegetation, the coastline, and the Wadden Sea environment. The Klitrose expression is among the distillery’s most place-specific products and is distilled in their copper still, which reinforces its handcrafted, small-scale character.
In flavour, this is a gin in which juniper remains clearly at the centre, while the dune rose adds a gentle floral lift and botanicals such as fennel and liquorice root contribute rounder spice and depth. The overall impression is therefore fresh, herbal, lightly floral, and fairly dry in style rather than sweet or soft.
It works very well both neat over ice and in a gin & tonic. The producer especially recommends it with oysters and Rømø shrimp, which says a great deal about the style: it is made to pair well with salty, fresh, and coastal flavours. With tonic and lemon it takes on a more classic serve, but it also feels like a gin for anyone looking for something distinctly Nordic and coastal in the glass.
