Longrow Red 7 Years Pinot Noir Cask Matured 2024 Release 70 cl. 57,1%
Peated Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky
This Longrow RED 7 year old matured for the first 4 years in ex-bourbon barrels, but was then transferred to fresh Pinot Noir wine barrels for a further 3 years. The Longrow RED comes from the Springbank distillery in Scotland. The Campbeltown region, from which this Longrow 7 year old Scotch whisky comes, was once the whisky metropolis of Scotland. With the change in blend producers to the Speyside region, the region increasingly lost importance in whisky production. As a result, in 1935 there were only 2 whisky distilleries left in this region producing whisky. One of them was Springbank and the other Glen Scotia. In 1973, the Springbank distillery decided to add a smoky version to its range alongside the very successful Scotch malts. In order not to distort the distillery’s character, the name of the Longrow distillery, which was located next door, was chosen. The strictly limited Longrow 7 year old Pinot Noir Edition was bottled in Scotland at a cask strength of 57.1% vol. This is the 2024 release.
The tasting note for the Longrow 7 year old Pinot Noir Cask:
NOSE: Creamy and fruity on the nose, with notes of custard, blackberry jelly, red apples and cherries. The Longrow character presents itself in smoky embers, along with a hint of butter biscuits.
TASTE: The smokiness continues on the palate and tannin aromas develop. A balanced note with sweet aromas with cranberry and raspberry and a delicate hint of malt.
FINISH: Long, warm and strong.
The 7 year old Longrow has a beautiful variety of aromas that is underlined by fine, peaty accents. The Springbank distillery, which distills this Longrow, has succeeded in producing a Scotch single malt with its peated malt edition, which has gained international recognition
