Longrow Peated 70 CL 46%

Peated Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This Longrow Peated comes from Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. “Longrow” is the name they give their heavily smoked Maltwhisky, which accounts approximately 10% of production on the distillery. It is named after the original Longrow distiller, which was active in Campbeltown between 1824 and 1896. The malt peats to about 55 ppm, giving a distinct smoke in the whiskey.

Color: Light golden
Fragrance: Great scent of chimney sod, salt water and driftwood.
Taste notes: The taste continues in mineral notes of salted lemons, olives, butter, and passion fruit.
Serving suggestions: should be enjoyed clean, possibly. with a drop of water.

At Springbank, 3 distinct types of whiskey produces that differentiate themselves on a number of parameters. The classic spring bank has a light drying. The smoke level is indicated (something inaccurate) with a measurement of phenol in the finalized barley and is about 10-15 “parts per milion” (the malt is dried 6 hours with drying and 30 hours with hot air). Springbank is also distilled 2.5 times. “Longrow” – a strongly smoked variant was first made in 1973. Here, the smoke is up to 50-55 ppm, the malt is dried 48 hours with dry shoot, and it is distilled twice. The latest variant, Hazelburn, so today in 1997 when you first tried with completely flue and triple distilled whiskey. Of the approximately 175,000 liters, the small campbelown distiller produces a year, 80% Springbank, about 10% Longrow and 10% Hazelburn.

Whatever variant you have hung to, Springbank is worth getting acquainted with. It is many whiskey dryers favorite grills and it for good reasons! As the only distillery in Scotland, they even man all the barley they need. Never add dye, and the whiskey is not cooled filtered.
