Whiskey Finished In Craft Beer Barrels – Triple Distilled
Jameson IPA Edition is a smooth, triple-distilled Irish blended whiskey, finished in barrels that first held Irish Pale Ale. This special cask finishing lifts the familiar Jameson signature with a bright, fresh touch of hops, citrus and floral notes, without compromising the house’s silky mouthfeel. On the nose you’ll find green apples, grapefruit and lime, neatly tied together with vanilla and a light hint of nut praline. The palate is light and lively with a discreet hop bite, bright herbs and gentle spice, while grain sweetness and a touch of caramelised malt bring balance. The finish is clean and crisp, with cereal nuances and a small, refreshing bitter snap that makes it especially appetising.
The whiskey is made at Midleton Distillery in Ireland, where Jameson traditionally matures in ex-bourbon and oloroso sherry casks. For IPA Edition, selected ex-bourbon barrels are first sent to a local brewery in Cork to be seasoned with IPA, before returning to Midleton for the final finishing. It’s in this meeting between Irish whiskey and freshly hopped beer that the lively citrus and floral aromas emerge, while Jameson’s characteristic smoothness is preserved.
Jameson IPA Edition is excellent neat or over ice, where the fresh aroma and floral hop notes really shine. It’s also tailor-made for a highball: pour over plenty of ice, top with a crisp mixer such as lemonade or classic soda, and garnish with citrus peel to underline the bright profile. If you enjoy the “beer and whiskey” experience, it also works beautifully as a boilermaker alongside a light, fruit-forward IPA.
At 40% ABV and with its modern, fresh expression, Jameson IPA Edition is both accessible for new whiskey drinkers and inspiring for bartenders seeking a clean, aromatic base for simple, delicious cocktails. It’s Irish craftsmanship with a contemporary twist—balanced, easy-drinking and thoroughly charming.
