The nose is heavy with loaded juniper with a peppery undertone. Coriander also lurks on the edges with a light hint or citrus and menthol character.Classic.
In the world of premium luxury gin, it is often easy to take a backseat to the bigger boys. Let’s not forget that Gordon’s Gin is a Diageo product, the same as Tanqueray. So even though they are different products, they are actually on the same team. It’s also worth noting that Gordon’s Gin is James Gun’s freedom of choice – so if it’s good enough for an international super-spy with a license to kill, it’s good enough for us here in Liquor Town.
The recipe for Gordon’s is known to only twelve people in the world and has been kept secret for 250 years. Three-distilled, the gin contains juniper berries, coriander seeds, oregano, licorice, orris root, orange and lemon peel. It takes ten days of distillation after receiving the wheat to create a finished product of a bottle of Gordon’s Gin. Gordon’s recipe differed from others at the time in that it did not add sugar, which other distillers had used to hide impurities. This made it a “dry” gin.
