Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1996 is a smooth, creamy Highland single malt matured in custom casks for 23 years before being bottled in 2019. Sweet, floral aromas of roses, cloves, coriander, orange, pear and creamy vanilla fill the nose . The palate offers notes of fresh oranges and lemons, vanilla fudge, ground ginger, cinnamon, oak spice and marzipan.
Glenmorangie is known for having Scotland’s tallest stills. The tall cauldrons provide increased contact between the spirit and the copper, and this has a marked effect on the taste of the final whisky, which becomes lighter and more elegant. This style is loved worldwide and has undoubtedly helped make Glenmorangie the 4th best selling single malt in the world since 2007.
The distillery was founded by William Mathesen and has just been able to celebrate its 175th anniversary, which it did by, among other things, announcing an expansion. At the moment, the capacity is 6 million liters of pure spirits per year, but with the 2 planned new stills it will probably increase significantly.
