Glen Moray Classic is the distillery’s signature release and often the most approachable way into the Speyside style: bright, smooth, and fruity, with clear American oak influence. Glen Moray sits on the banks of the River Lossie on the edge of Elgin and began whisky production in 1897 in a former brewery building. Over time, it has built a reputation for a clean, friendly house character and a strong emphasis on how cask choice shapes flavor.
Classic is a no age statement bottling matured entirely in American oak casks, delivering rounded vanilla-and-toffee warmth without becoming heavy. The profile is deliberately straightforward and easy-drinking: fresh citrus, malty sweetness, and a warm shortbread-like note on the nose, followed by soft caramelized tones, a hint of blackcurrant, and a fragrant lemongrass/citrus-peel edge on the palate. The finish is comforting and gently spiced, without smoke or harsh dryness.
Serving and use
Excellent neat, or with a small splash of water to lift citrus and malt.
Also works well as a “house malt” in highballs or simple whisky cocktails where you want fruit and soft oak.
Easy to pair with milder cheeses, salty snacks, or lightly smoked charcuterie thanks to its balanced, non-dominant style.
