About the Product
Glasgow 1770 Tokaji Cask Finish – Mac Y Release was distilled on February 3, 2018, and bottled on October 25, 2022. This whiskey is the finest symphony of malted barley with incredibly clean water from Loch Katrine, and has fermented for over 72 hours before it distilleries in the most laborious way in the distillery’s traditional copper pot stills all three times.

Whiskey with Tokaji finish is a rare sight, and the combination of triple-distilled whiskey with this finish on sweet dessert wine results in a completely unique whiskey experience.

The third distillation removes the heavy oils from the spirit, so that only the finest and purest spirit is used in the creation of this incredibly light and smooth whiskey. The resulting new make spirit is quite fruity and bright.

Then the spirit in a first fill ex-bourbon cask, before it is finally given a final finish where it is transferred to a small barrique barrel, which previously contained Tokaji wine.

Tokaji is the name for the types of wine that come from the Tokaj region, which is shared between Hungary and Slovakia. Tokaji wine is typical sødmefulde, which is because the region has long used noble advice in the cultivation of wine grapes. Ædelråd is a form of beneficial fungal growth, with which the grapes are deliberately infected. If this is done correctly – it results in a vintage that is sweet but incredibly well-balanced.

Glasgow 1770 Tokaji Cask Finish – Mac Y Release is non-chill filtered, with natural color and bottled at 52% ABV.

Tasting notes
An extremely light and delicious whiskey, rich in honey, with notes of creamy shortbread cookies, apricots, citrus and spicy oak.

The distillery makes a number of different spirit products, both Single Malt Whisky, Blended Whisky, Gin, Rum and Vodka, of which Mac Y brings their “1770 Single Malt Whisky” series, as well as their “Makar Gin” series.
