This wine is a harmonious blend of mainly Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by local varieties such as Nascetta and Riesling. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected. After a gentle pressing, the must is fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, preserving the grapes’ natural freshness and fruit.
Langhe Bianco Dragon Organic 2024 from G.D. Vajra is an authentic expression of the unique terroir of Piedmont. The vineyards are situated at 350–400 meters above sea level around the village of Barolo. The cool microclimate and the calcareous soils of clay and marl ensure a long ripening period, maintaining the grapes’ natural acidity and aromatic complexity.
An elegant and fresh white wine with an enticing bouquet of white flowers, citrus, green apple, and hints of exotic fruit such as passionfruit and pineapple. On the palate, it is balanced and juicy with lively acidity that highlights the wine’s mineral core and finishes crisp and almost saline.
About G.D. Vajra
G.D. Vajra is a relatively young estate in the region – and likely the first in Piedmont to adopt organic viticulture. Beautifully located, surrounded by the Alps near the town of Barolo, the vineyards enjoy high elevation where grapes ripen slowly, developing elegant and expressive fruit. The winding roads from Barolo up into the hills pass Vajra’s finest plots, where old vines consistently yield grapes for exceptional Barolo wines.
Yet it is only when you step out onto the dusty courtyard and are greeted by Giuseppe Vajra or another family member that the true soul of the estate reveals itself. At this family-run winery, every return feels like a warm embrace.
Life is beautiful
Barolo wines are synonymous with style and prestige. Even those who know little about wine often recognize the name “Barolo” and associate it with luxury. Vajra’s philosophy is different: wine should spark joy and be accessible to all. Under the motto “Life is beautiful”, their wines are lively, colorful, and meant to be enjoyed as much on a regular Tuesday evening as on a grand occasion.
Wine is terroir
Albe Barolo is a blend whose name means “sunrises.” It expresses the essence of the region as a whole, rather than a single vineyard. The soils are ancient seabeds, rich in fossils and limestone with some sand, giving the wines freshness and a backbone of acidity rather than dominant tannins.
Burgundy in Italy
Vajra’s wines are best recognized by their cool elegance and distinct minerality. Many of their vineyards, at elevations up to 400 meters, produce wines with a style reminiscent of Burgundy: light, elegant, fruit-driven wines with red berries at the core, yet unmistakably Barolo. Founded in 1972 by Aldo Vajra, the estate now covers about 40 hectares, including 10 planted with Nebbiolo in prestigious sites such as Bricco delle Viole, Fossati, La Volta, and Coste di Vergne. While rooted in tradition, Vajra employs subtle modern touches like temperature-controlled fermentations and minimal use of barriques (typically 5–8%).
