Edradour is best known for being the smallest distillery in Scotland. Only three men work in production, including the Distillery Manager. The distillery produces only 12 barrels a week. Since the edradour distiller was established in 1825 has only slightly changed. The equipment on the distillery is the same as then and has the smallest copper distillers allowed during the manufacture of whiskey. Edradoour Single Malt is a rare pleasure for the few lucky, where a golden, smooth, creamy and nutty taste can be enjoyed.
Edradour Caledonia 12 years old
A special bottling of Edradour 12 years. Song writer Dougie Maclean has selected this Oloroso Fad from 1997, as part of a homecoming celebrations and has named it after its most famous song, Caledonia. This variant is the first running series from edradour.
Taste character:
Nose: Sultanas (core-free raisins used in pudding and cakes) and figs balanced with honey.
Taste: Liquid Christmas cake, toasted almonds and just a hint of orange spice. A little water opens depth and complexity with fruity and Oloroso Sherry tree comes in the foreground. The result is a traditional whiskey that rolls over the tongue like syrup.
After flavor: Careful heating, spicy and dry from a time long forgotten.
