About the Product
Dos Maderas Atlantic is a blend of 5 year old rum from Barbados and 5 year old rum from Guyana. After blending, the rum has been shipped to William & Humbert’s bodega in Jerez in southern Spain, where it is aged for another year in old casks that previously contained sweet Pedro Ximenez sherry.

Dos Maderas Atlantic is bottled at 37.5% alcohol.

Tasting notes
Very well balanced in both aroma and taste, with notes of oak, spice, vanilla, honey, caramel and roasted nuts. In the aftertaste you also find a light touch of raisins, no doubt a result of aging in Pedro Ximenez casks.

Dos Maderas
Dos Maderas is a happy marriage of the combined wisdom of three countries – the rum is produced in Barbados and Guyana, where it is put into casks and aged for a few years. It is then shipped to Spain, where it is stored for a few more years by William & Humbert, who are experts in sherry and storing spirits.

The name ‘Dos Maderas’ is Spanish and means “Two kinds of wood”. This is a reference to the storage method, where the rum is stored in two rounds: First, it is stored for a few years in the Caribbean, where the tropical climate infuses the rum with a strong and incredibly characterful taste. It is then transported to Spain, where it is aged for a few more years in carefully selected sherry casks, adding sweetness and balance to the wild Caribbean tropical power.

The same is also the reason for the somewhat funny names of the bottles “5+5 years”, “5+3 years” etc. They refer to how many years it has been stored in the Caribbean and Spain respectively.

About William & Humbert’s Bodega

Williams & Humbert was founded in 1877 by Alexander Williams together with his brother-in-law Arthur Humbert.

From day one, the company has concentrated on internationalizing its sherry products. The flagship Dry Sack, which became a registered trademark in the USA as far back as 1906, is now a familiar brand in many hotels, bars and restaurants around the world.

The company also participated in the early 1930s in creating the first Denominacion de Origen (a type of quality seal) of sherry in Spain. The company is fully owned by the Medina family from Jerez, who in 1994 bought the famous Spanish brandy house – Gran Duque D’Alba.

William & Humbert today has over 350 hectares of first class vineyards in Jerez. It is the largest Bodega in Europe under one roof. The bodega houses over 55,000 American oak casks used for aging sherry, brandy and rum.
