Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Granit is a classic and characterful white wine from Austria’s renowned Wachau region. Made from 100% Grüner Veltliner grapes, hand-harvested from steep, terraced vineyards near the villages of Weissenkirchen, Dürnstein, and Loiben. The granite and gneiss soils impart a distinctive minerality to the wine, hence the name “Granit”.
Tasting notes:
Bright pale yellow in color, this wine offers expressive aromas of ripe apple, gooseberry, passionfruit, and a delicate hint of white pepper. On the palate, it is juicy and vibrant with refreshing acidity, a medium body, and a clean, slightly spicy finish. A textbook example of Grüner Veltliner from Wachau.
Vinification:
The grapes are cultivated with traditional techniques, yielding about 7,500 kg per hectare. After manual harvesting in mid-October, the grapes are gently pressed and undergo cold settling overnight. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the wine’s freshness and fruit, with a light reductive approach.
Food pairing:
A versatile companion to dishes with pork, poultry, fish, and vegetables. Also pairs wonderfully with Asian cuisine and soft cheeses.
