DICTADOR TWO MASTERS RUM 42% Leclerc Briant 1977 is produced in a collaboration between Hervé Jestin, Master Champagne Maker at Leclerc-Briant, who we know from, among others, Abyss, La Croisette and others, and Hernan Parra, Master Blender at Dictador.
The rum is aged primarily at Dictador in Columbia, but also at Leclerc-Briant in French oak, a so-called chauffe légère cask – lightly heated cask – for a full 36 months. Only 313 bottles were produced in total, numbered 1-313.
On the nose there are notes of white flowers, anise and apricot as well as fresh lemon peel and crushed almonds. You also find a little licorice, cassia bark and vanilla, as well as nuances that remind you of butter-fried pancakes. In the mouth there are notes of forest floor and sweet orange as well as a creamy note that is helped along by hints of lavender. There is really a lot going on in the rum, where the finish is nicely rounded off with a little pink pepper, tropical fruits (mango and papaya) and a little vanilla, which makes the rum a real wonder. Extremely nice room.
Really nice Two Masters room. With a gem like Leclerc-Briant at one end and Dictador at the other, it’s a shame we couldn’t get more to the country. Very few bottles have found their way to Denmark…
