“Intense and fresh with a balancing silky texture” – Mas d’en Gil takes great pride in the character they manage to bring out in their Priorat wines. Thanks to their unique terroir, they are able to craft wines with remarkable elegance and lightness, even in this otherwise warm region.
For their Coma Vella cuvée, the grapes come from the vineyard of the same name. Here, Mas d’en Gil has their oldest Grenache vines in the entire Coma Valley. The valley benefits from ideal ripening conditions, thanks to the Garbinada wind blowing in from the sea. This breeze keeps the temperatures down during the hot summer days, allowing for a long ripening period that preserves the grapes’ elegance.
The result can be tasted in this wine, where the strength of the Priorat terroir expresses itself in an almost Burgundian style. Expect lively acidity, juicy red berries, hints of forest floor and autumn, all wrapped in a smooth and soft texture. For any wine lover, it is a truly captivating experience to discover just how much a skilled winemaker can bring out of such a unique terroir.
Enjoy it from large Burgundy glasses at around 14°C, ideally with a piece of grilled pork – for an authentic Spanish experience!
The oldest vines for this wine were planted in the 1960s. It has been aged for 14 months in a mix of 3000L, 1500L, and 225L oak barrels, followed by 24 months of bottle ageing.

“Spicy nose with red fruit, wild herbs and balsamic notes. Palate is fresh, fruity, tasty, balanced with a fruity aftertaste and considerable persistence.”
