Premium Añejo Tequila

Limited Edition Añejo Tequila | 40% vol. | 1 liter

There are bottles you open. And then there are bottles you understand. Clase Azul Día de Muertos 2025 – Recuerdosis crafted as a liquid tribute to the power of memory: what we remember, what we miss, and what we carry forward. The 2025 release is called “Recuerdos” (memories) and serves as the final chapter in Clase Azul’s five-year Día de Muertos narrative—a series that, year after year, has fused Mexican heritage, artisan craftsmanship, and luxury tequila into one coherent expression.

The idea behind the 2025 release

In Día de Muertos tradition, memories aren’t merely nostalgia—they are presence. That’s exactly what Clase Azul embraces with “Recuerdos”: a tequila meant to feel like warmth, depth, and calm. It’s an edition where the theme lives not only in the decoration, but in the flavour itself—more layered, more intense, and more reflective than a “standard” ultra-premium añejo profile.

Blend and ageing

Recuerdos is an Añejo, but not a single-cask statement: it’s a harmonised blend of tequilas aged from around 12 to 38 months. Maturation takes place in first-use American whiskey barrels, typically bringing a clear, polished oak influence—vanilla, caramelised oak, and warming spice—without fully overshadowing the agave’s character.

One especially distinctive detail is that part of the agave in this edition is pit-cooked. This adds a darker, more “toasted” depth with subtle hints of smoke and caramelised sweetness—an extra layer beneath the refined, elegant surface. The result is a tequila that delivers the signature Clase Azul smoothness, yet with a more intense, glowing core of warmth and complexity.

Flavour profile

Think of a tasting journey that opens gently—then unfolds in waves.

Nose
Full and inviting: toasted agave, caramel, orange peel, and warming spices. There’s also a clear barrel-driven warmth: toasted oak, a touch of cocoa, and a rounded sweetness reminiscent of dark syrup and baked fruit.

Palate
Rich, silky texture. The flavours move between caramelised agave, orange marmalade, cinnamon/clove, and a discreet, elegant bitterness from citrus peel that keeps everything lifted. Mid-palate, darker nuances appear: toasted wood, a whisper of smoke, and a chocolate-like depth that makes the profile feel more evening-ready and contemplative than bright and zesty.

Finish
Long and vivid—gradually shifting from sweet orange and spice into a drier, oak-spiced close. The structure is unmistakable: not only smooth, but also defined and persistent.

The decanter

Día de Muertos editions are famous for their decanters, and the 2025 version stands out: an ivory-coloured, hand-decorated ceramic decanter featuring an artistic motif inspired by an ofrenda—a memorial altar—creating a visual “memory space” in ceramic form.

A central detail is a gilded medallion/locket ornament that opens to reveal an obsidian cameo—a symbol of eternity and remembrance, presented as a craft element rather than mere decoration. It’s exactly this kind of tactile luxury that makes the release both a collector’s piece and a gift with real gravitas.

Best way to enjoy it

This is, first and foremost, a tequila to sip slowly.

  • Serve at room temperature or lightly cool (not ice-cold) so the spice and citrus notes can breathe.

  • A tulip-shaped glass helps concentrate the aromas.

  • Pair with dark chocolate, toasted nuts, orange peel, caramel desserts—or sweet breads/cakes where the orange-and-spice character really shines.

  • Cocktails? Possible—but honestly, this bottle is made for sipping and moments.
