Château Barbebelle Rosé Cuvée Madeleine 75 CL

Coteaux d’Aix en Provence – France

Dry and elegant adult rosé with equal parts aroma intensity and sophistication.

Château Barbebelle are rosé specialists from Provence, who dedicate as much as 75% of their production to rosé wine. The family property is now under Brice Herbeau’s management 4th generation and is located in Rognes, approx. 9 miles north-west of Aix-en-Provence. Here they stand more than 40 hectares of vines in a terroir with clayey sandstone.

This elegant ‘Cuvée Madeleine’ has been created on the basis of 60% grenache and 40% syrah, which under temperature control undergoes a short maceration to achieve the right, delicate salmon-colored wine. Aroma and taste have seductive elements of pomegranate, fresh strawberries, ripe cherries with floral undertones. Beautiful intensity is wrapped in ripe fruit and a dry finish. The fullness is balanced by a refreshing acid, so the overall experience is pronounced seamless.

It is obvious to enjoy Château Barbebelle as an aperitif or the glass in time, while it is less known that good rosé wine like this is excellent food wine. Try it for a fish soup a’la bouillabaisse, for boiled crabs, paella, fried chicken with green salad, for grilled fish or for the stronger Far Eastern cuisine.

We recommend a spacious white wine glass of the ‘burgundy type’ accompanied by a serving temperature of 8-11 °.

89+ Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“While scents of bay leaf, redcurrant and citrus mark the nose, the palate is medium-bodied, plump and appealing, backed by a core of wiry acidity. Long and stony on the finish, this is one Provence rosé that may actually taste better next year.”
