Champagne Mandois Vieilles Vignes Victor Brut 2012 75 CL

Champagne de France

Flavor and complexity in its purest form

Cuvee Victor is a Vintage Champagne from 2012 on pure Chardonnay. Vintage Champagne is made only in the best vintages, and is often aged for a long time, which equips them with a complex and delicious flavor expression. In this wine, the characteristic Champagne notes are struck: Biscuits, Brioche bun and almonds with clear fruity notes of yellow apples, lemon and yellow flowers. It is a wine that is at once full and creamy, at the same time that it feels fresh and acidic. It is an impressive craft to witness, and even more fun to taste.

With Cuvee Victor, Champagne Mandois has created an impressive wine with an intense and golden color. Here you are greeted by rich aromas and complex fruit compositions that give an excellent intensity in the scent. The taste offers roasted notes and a honey-soft richness of taste that testifies that this is a very special wine.

The amount of residual sugar is all the way down to 6 grams, and the distinguished taste is therefore based on a terrific natural fatness and gentleness. This reveals that we are dealing with a Champagne that comes from old vines, aged according to all the rules of the art, and that comes from a very limited harvest year with great concentration in the grapes.

Over 300 years of experience

It is no coincidence that Champagne Mandois can perform a quality like this. Because this is a vineyard where the producer knows his soil, his vines, his climate, his possibilities and his limitations as closely as possible. In fact, it is over 300 years since the Mandois family founded their vineyard in the Pierry area just south of Epernay, and today it is the 9th generation at the helm. So it’s no wonder that the 35 hectares of vineyards are established, rearranged, treated and handled exactly as Mandois would like it to be.

This does not stop the family from including modern tools in production, and the winery exudes both tradition and modernity – and the completely authentic atmosphere that arises when Mandois himself invents some of the important principles for their particular wine. For example, that they only plow every other row of vines in the field to thereby ensure a larger and deeper root network. And that a small proportion of the harvest in a given year is aged in barrels before it is combined with the rest of the wine.

Everything helps to characterize Champagne Mandois – and not least Cuvee Victor 2012.
