A 2012 Caol Ila bottled in 2023 as an 11 year old without coloring or chill filtering by Elixir Distillers for their Single Malts of Scotland Reserve Casks range.
This 11 year old Caol Ila 2012 is Batch 11 of the Reserve Fade series and was matured in a small batch of refill sherry casks before being bottled at the Reserve Fade standard strength of 48%.
Put together by the talented Oliver Chilton, these Caol Ila’s from Elixir have been nothing short of excellent and are really good value for money.
Nose Classic coastal notes with smoky, salted caramel, creamy custard, a hint of jammy fruit and tarry peat.
Taste Rich waves of roasted vanilla collide with dense peat smoke, with preserved lemons and earthy tea gathering underneath.
Finish The smoke lingers with fresh citrus and some fiery candied ginger.
