Origin & Bottling
A rare and exclusive single malt from Bunnahabhain, distilled on 8 October 2001 and matured for 23 years in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask (cask no. #1436, with some labels incorrectly stating #1438). Bottled in 2025 by Signatory Vintage as part of their prestigious Symington’s Choice Cask Strength Collection. Only 540 individually numbered bottles were released, at a robust 59.5 %, with no chill-filtration or added colouring.
Nose
Deep sherry influence with notes of dried fruits, dark chocolate, raisins, and a gentle maritime salinity, balanced by robust oak.
Palate
Full-bodied and rich with layers of toffee, spiced orange, roasted nuts, and figs – where the sweetness of the sherry meets an elegant coastal character.
Finish
Long, warming, and complex with lingering notes of sherry-soaked fruitcake, soft oak tannins, and a subtle hint of sea breeze.
Summary
An elegant and powerful dram that showcases Bunnahabhain’s unpeated Islay style at its finest, enhanced by long Oloroso sherry maturation and bottled at high cask strength. A highly desirable release for whisky enthusiasts and collectors.
