Full-bodied, seductive, and round
Deep red, almost purple in color. On the nose, intense notes of fresh red berries such as wild strawberries, raspberries, and blackcurrants. Full and round on the palate with silky-soft tannins. Clearly a seductive and harmonious wine with a persistent and crisp fruity aftertaste.
Enjoy this wine with grilled dishes, beef, chicken, or starters.
Serving temperature: 16–18 °C
Vinification
To preserve and promote biodiversity in the vineyards, the soil, composed of clay and gravel, is ploughed between the rows of vines or the grass is regularly cut. Leaf thinning is carried out on the vines, which average 25 years of age, and the grapes are carefully sorted at harvest. The grapes are traditionally vinified with destemming, pressing, and maceration before fermentation. Both maceration and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks over 20 days. The wine then rests for 12 months in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit character, followed by partial aging in French oak to achieve perfect balance. Bottled at the château.
About the producer
In 1910, the Duporge family purchased Domaine Jalousy, marking the beginning of the story of Vignobles Jalousie Beaulieu. At that time, it was a small estate with fragmented plots, but over the years the family has acquired more land, consolidating the vineyards into larger, unified parcels. For over a century, generation after generation has cultivated vines and produced wine. Today, the 5th generation leads the estate, with the 6th already preparing to continue the family tradition.
Vignobles Jalousie Beaulieu has great respect for nature and the environment. In 2017, they implemented The Environmental Management System for Bordeaux wines. In addition, they adapted their practices to sustainable farming methods. In 2018, they were certified at Level 3 in High Environmental Value (HVE), a certification established by the French Ministry of Agriculture. This involves preserving biodiversity, integrated weed management, and controlled use of fertilizers and irrigation. The estate also produces its own electricity through solar panels, and Domaine Jalousie Beaulieu functions as a wildlife reserve, home to many different animal species.
