Château La Serre Grand Cru Classé 2022 75 cl.

Saint-Émilion – Bordeaux France

Welcome to Saint-Émilion, where the outstanding 2022 vintage has also given Château La Serre a year for the history books.

A wonderfully floral welcome greets you as you nose the wine. Cherries, blackcurrants, and herbs follow through, drawing you in. Excellent structure and body, with layers of fruit tones and elegant tannins that do not dominate but make their presence known. Long, mineral-driven finish.

In the cellar, the grapes are optically sorted and undergo a pre-fermentation cold maceration. Fermentation takes place in concrete and stainless steel vats, and maturation occurs in French oak barrels, 50% of which are renewed each year.

From a 7-hectare vineyard located on Saint-Émilion’s upper limestone plateau. The 2022 Château La Serre shows a dense purple/plum color and gorgeous aromatics of black raspberries, cassis, graphite, chalky minerality, spring flowers, and spice. Wonderfully textured, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and yet elegant. A lively, vibrant style from this estate, still showing plenty of classic La Serre richness and depth.

“VERY WELL DONE HERE”
A juicy and chewy wine with crushed stone and hints of chalk, black fruits, and nutmeg spice. Medium to full body. Structured finish. Very well done.

Falstaff
Deep dark ruby garnet with purple reflections, broad and bright rim. Ripe cherries, a touch of plums, fine nuances of forest berries, candied orange zest. Juicy, round, and elegant, with a touch of chocolate, discreet acidity, harmonious. Already approachable and a multi-faceted food wine.

“SEHR HOHE QUALITÄT DIESES JAHR”
What a nose – super floral, with cream, herbs, cherries, cassis – seductive. On the palate taut, well-structured, the fruit builds up, becoming fuller and more voluminous. Tannins are of high quality, discreet in the background, and show more on the finish. Long, red-fruited, mineral-driven aftertaste. Very high quality this year.

Rich, deep, long, and creamy – the wine is all about its layers of dark, lush fruits on the palate and in the finish.

The 2022 La Serre is a notable success, offering aromas of wild berries, cherries, and rose petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple, and suave palate. Deep, seamless, and sensual, with a bright fruit core and long mineral finish. This seven-hectare estate on the limestone plateau is planted with around 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. With this vintage, La Serre takes a clear step up in quality.

Decanter
Juicy and easy, well balanced and round, with lovely purity of red berry fruit. Crisp tannin definition while maintaining roundness in the structure. Bright acidity, mineral nuances of licorice and slate on the finish. Still a little shy, but well presented.

A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple color. Bold expressions of raspberry pie, juicy black plums, and Morello cherries, leading to cinnamon toast and charcoal. The palate is medium to full-bodied, plush and juicy, with balanced acidity providing freshness on the finish.
