Schola Sarmenti Critèra Primitivo is a rich, juicy red from Salento in southern Puglia, an area renowned for characterful wines made from the Primitivo grape. Produced from 100% Primitivo, it offers plenty of ripe fruit, a generous mouthfeel and a warm, inviting style that still retains freshness.
In the glass, Critèra shows a deep ruby-red colour. The nose is intense and attractive, with aromas of ripe cherries, dark berries, plums, hints of dried fruit and subtle notes of spice and cocoa. On the palate it is full-bodied and rounded, with lush, ripe fruit, smooth tannins, gentle warmth and a long, slightly spicy finish that clearly reflects the variety and the southern origin.
Critèra Primitivo pairs beautifully with hearty pasta dishes, pizza, grilled meats, stews, lamb, spicy sausages and aged cheeses – anything that calls for a wine with both richness and softness.
Schola Sarmenti is based in Nardò in the heart of Salento and focuses on native grape varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro and Susumaniello. Many of the vines are old and are farmed using traditional methods with great respect for the environment and the local terroir. The house style is intense and fruit-driven yet balanced, aiming to capture the warmth and character of Puglia without losing elegance – clearly expressed in Critèra Primitivo.
