Isle of Raasay Cask Strength Release 70 cl. 61,6%

Hebridean Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This Cask Strength Whisky warms more than a Norwegian wood-burning stove on a cold winter’s day. It has been matured in first fill ex-Rye Whiskey casks (63%), virgin Chinkapin oak (25%), and first fill Bordeaux red wine casks (12%). It is a dram that delivers Raasay’s unique character completely unfiltered, where everything comes together in perfect harmony. The casks work beautifully together and create a harmonious whole that invites you to sink back into your chair and enjoy every single sip. While the winter storm rushes past the window and the flames light up the room, the whisky spreads a deep warmth through the body – a reminder to be present, feel life, and enjoy the moment. Sláinte.

Nose: A sweet aroma of malt combined with heather honey, nuances of citrus, pipe tobacco, and a discreet, elegant peat smoke.
Palate: Notes of butterscotch, English liquorice, mocha, and spices are balanced by a light peated smoke profile.
Finish: A warm and spicy finish wrapped in a gentle peat smoke.

Isle of Raasay Distillery – Tradition Meets Innovation

Raasay Distillery is not just a distillery – it is a driving force for renewal and growth on one of the most beautiful islands in the Scottish Hebrides. With a vision of creating something unique without letting go of what is original, the distillery has succeeded in attracting young people from the cities and revitalising the local community. The island’s average age has fallen to 30, and the population is growing – a development driven by the power of whisky. Whether they will one day reach 1,500 inhabitants again, as they once had, remains to be seen.

The distillery has set itself the goal of becoming as self-sufficient as possible. Grain is now being cultivated on the island again, and the aim is for the entire production process – from growing and distilling to maturation and bottling – to take place locally.

Raasay Distillery also stands out through its maturation technique. Part of their whisky is matured in ex-Bordeaux red wine casks from highly regarded estates, to which the family behind the distillery has personal connections. The casks arrive fresh and free from mould during the cold months, when they are filled with new make spirit and left to mature on the island. This gives the whisky a very distinctive character: a pink hue in its younger years, which gradually deepens into a darker red over time.

The flavour profile shows notes of dried fruits, sultanas, grapes, Christmas cake, and bread pudding – a complex and warming experience that reflects both terroir and craftsmanship. Raasay Distillery stands for authenticity, responsibility, and innovation.
