The GlenAllachie 13 Years Oloroso Puncheon is a cask strength single cask release from the respected GlenAllachie distillery, selected exclusively for the Danish market. Distilled in April 2010, this whisky has matured for 13 full years in a single Oloroso sherry puncheon — a large cask made of European oak, typically used for ageing rich sherries. Bottled at a robust 60.8% ABV, it is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured.
On the nose, you’re met with inviting notes of brandy butter, orange-infused dark chocolate, ripe peach and toasted coconut. Hints of cinnamon and nutmeg follow, creating a warm and spicy foundation. The palate is bold and layered, offering fig syrup, heather honey, roasted hazelnuts, grapefruit zest and ginger biscuits. The finish is long, dry and warming, with traces of mocha, oak tannins, orange peel and lingering sherry sweetness.
