Into the Blue shows a bolder side of Glen Ord: two components converge—one portion elegantly finished in Mexican ex-mezcal casks and another matured on in second-fill Spanish sherry casks. Together they create a 17-year-old single malt where the distillery’s clean fruit is lifted by subtle, herbal smoke and warming spice, bottled at 55.5% to capture the full register. The nose is gentle and inviting with bright spices, green herbal notes, raisins and baked citrus. The palate is silky, balancing sweetness and a light salinity with ginger spice, dried fruit and cocoa from the sherry casks, while the mezcal influence adds a discreet, agave-green thread. A few drops of water open vanilla, citrus and a nutty nuance without disturbing the overall harmony. The finish is long and poised, with white pepper, toasted-malt tones and a fresh minerality that lingers.
Serving & pairing: Enjoy neat in a tulip glass or with a few drops of water. Excellent with aged hard cheeses, grilled corn with butter and chili, smoked salmon or around 70% dark chocolate.
