About Viña Tacama
Tacama is no less than the first vineyard in all of South America, created in 1540 in the Ica Valley of Peru by the Spaniard Francisco de Carabantes. As in Spain, wine was to be made in Peru. But in 1776 Spain banned the import of wines from Peru to Spain – the Spaniards had to drink Spanish wine. So what do you do in Peru? The wine is distilled, and thus the Peruvian grape brandy, Pisco, is born.
