Grain & Embers distills Lagavulin down to its essence: the bright sweetness of barley meets glowing peat embers, coal and sea spray. The style is taut and focused—a spirit-led Islay with smoke in full voice and minimal cask interference. On the nose, intense peat and warm ash frame lemon zest, kelp and a gentle hint of vanilla and honey. The palate is dry and driven: tar, coal and peat heat sweep over malty sweetness, citrus oil and discreet vanilla; a few drops of water reveal grilled lemon, licorice root and a clean maritime minerality. The finish is long, ashy and saline, with peppery warmth and a lingering glow of malt. A no-compromise, cask-strength Lagavulin for those who want Islay unfiltered.
