Heart of the Harbour captures Oban’s harbour soul in a welcoming, open style. Sweet toffee and warming spice meet bright citrus, honey and a discreet saline kiss from the sea breeze. Fully matured in American ex-bourbon casks, this 12-year-old lets the distillery’s clean, coastal fruit shine without heavy oak. Bottled at natural cask strength, it delivers extra energy and a softly creamy texture.
The nose is dry yet gentle with honeyed spice, sandy shore and kelp framing pear, peach and lemon zest. On the palate, silky toffee and “tinned peaches” combine with warming spices; a few drops of water bring out a cool salinity and a fresh, clear mouthfeel. The finish is long and harmonious, with lingering toffee, citrus and a fine maritime echo.
Serve & pair Enjoy neat in a tulip glass, or add a little water to open the fruit and soft sweetness. Excellent with seafood, smoked salmon, aged hard cheeses or around 70% dark chocolate.
