Speymalt Macallan 19 Years Single Cask Vintage 2005 G&M 70 cl. 58,1%
Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Gordon & MacPhail is one of the very few independent bottlers capable of offering something as rare as a single cask Macallan – and bottled at cask strength, no less. That is a truly uncommon sight in the whisky world. Macallan no longer sells whisky to independent bottlers. But G&M is something special. For generations, they have had their own casks filled at the distillery under a special agreement, and that is presumably what happened in 2005 when this cask was filled. It is said that Macallan has at times bought casks back from G&M when they needed particularly old whisky for prestige bottlings. This cask, however, the good people of Elgin chose to keep for themselves – until we were given the chance to take over the gold.
Colour: Amber. Nose: Dense and concentrated, with notes of beeswax, warm malt, and dried fruit. Palate: Powerful and complex, especially after a little time in the glass, so pour a dram well in advance. Stone fruit, dried fruit, rancio, and a long, nutty finish.
